When I took this picture of my stovetop, I thought this was going to be a very different post. I had accepted the fact that I had ruined my new ceramic cooktop, and I was ready to send a plea out to the blogosphere for how to possibly fix it. Then I tried the bottle of Cerama Bryte that came with my stove, and I was amazed!
Let me start at the beginning. I had been in the middle of making a ravioli lasagna. I had finished the meat sauce on the front burner and was waiting for the water to come to a boil for the ravioli on the back burner. When you add frozen ravioli to a pot of boiling water, you need to carefully drop one or two at a time into the pot, otherwise the boiling water will splash onto your hands (not fun…from experience). Anyway, I set the bag of ravioli on the stovetop (unconsciously on the still hot front burner) while I carefully added the pasta to the pot. It took a minute, but I started to smell something funny. Then I realized it was the smell of burning plastic. I immediately picked up the bag of pasta, but not before it had left a heart-crushing residue of melted blue and white plastic all over the burner.
My heart melted also. I love my ceramic stovetop, and now it was ruined. I had used Cerama Bryte to clean up smaller messes, and it worked great, but I was certain there was no way it could rectify this horrible mistake. I had no other options at the time, so once the stovetop completely cooled, I decided I might as well give it a try. As directed, I squeezed a small amount of cleaner on top of the melted plastic disaster. Then I used the yellow cleaning pad that comes with the Cerama Bryte to gently scrub the burner. Much to my dismay, the melted plastic started to curl up at the edges, and I was able to actually peel off large pieces. A few more scrubs with the cleaning pad, and that mess was completely gone. I was utterly amazed (and thrilled!). The baked-on plastic catastrophe disappeared in minutes. No hours of gentle scrubbing hoping not to scratch the stovetop. No buying multiple cleaners in hopes of finding one that eventually works. No tricks or gimmicks required. Who knew my superhero that evening was hiding in a bottle of Cerama Bryte!
Since that nightmare-turned-miracle evening, I have used Cerama Bryte numerous times to make my ceramic stovetop sparkle and shine after a myriad of messes. All it takes is a small squirt of the cleaner, a few gentle scrubs with the cleaning pad, and a final swipe with a clean dry cloth and the stovetop looks brand new.
Can you handle even more good news? One bottle and 5 cleaning pads won’t even set you back the cost of one meal out. After my unfortunate incident, I thought we would have to eat out every night until we bought a new stove!
If you have a ceramic stovetop, I highly recommend having Cerama Bryte on hand. Not only is it extremely powerful, simple to use, and cost-effective, but it allows me to cook worry-free. It might not make my food taste like Julia Child’s, but I can rest easy if a pot boils over and makes a mess because I know that bottle has the ability to erase any disaster I can whip up.
